Tens of thousands of Austrians will have their Corona vaccination certificate expire in June. Many are getting vaccinated now before the vacation season.
Although the Green Passport is hardly required abroad anymore, vaccinations are now being increased again at the Austria Center Vienna. For tens of thousands of Austrians, the Corona vaccination certificate is expiring. Before their vacation, many are now getting the third Corona vaccination.
The recommended basic immunization in Austria is after three vaccinations. Those who have not yet had the third prick should get it before summer, advises epidemiologist Michael Kundi in “Wien Heute.”
Almost all countries have lifted the Corona entry restrictions, however. The Green Passport with complete vaccinations is only needed when entering the USA or Australia. A 3G proof is valid, for example, for Dubai, Egypt, or Mauritius. In Europe, only France, Portugal, and Finland.
Corona numbers have been rising again in Austria in the last few days. “It seems we have a summer wave now, so the risk of severe illnesses and deaths also increases. So those who have only been vaccinated twice should get the third vaccination of the first series if the vaccination was four to six months ago,” Kundi stressed.
On Sunday, 6,406 new infections were registered. A week ago, on June 12, there had been 2,989 Corona cases. The reason for this is the new variants BA.4 and BA.5. The epidemiologist advises against waiting for an adapted vaccine in the fall. “It is expected that there will be new types in the fall. Against that, a variant vaccine will not work better than the original vaccine,” the expert explained.
